Program Offerings


Day Treatment Program

Our Day Treatment Program is an evidence-based, present-focused counseling model to help people attain safety from trauma and/or substance misuse. It is a structured scheduled program of treatment activities provided three days per week while the client resides at home to assist the individual to develop skills to manage substance misuse and related problems. It will directly address both trauma and addiction in a safe and supportive environment.

Why Day Treatment?

Day Treatment offers more flexibility,  and it is most beneficial for individuals whose addictions are less severe, who have an inflexible employment schedule or family obligations that make residential inpatient treatments and impossibility.

Requirements for attending Day Treatment include:

  • Day Treatment is available to women 16 years and older.

Intake requirements include:

  • Completion of an assessment package
  • Interview with a Day Treatment Caseworker
  • The ability to commit to day treatment attendance
  • Be able to attend the least intrusive intervention that will assist in attaining recovery goals.

The House of Sophrosyne is proud to be a leader in offering virtual care to clients wishing access to education and support in living a recovery lifestyle.

Virtual Community Treatment

Virtual Community Treatment provides evidence-based education for women struggling with addiction and trauma issues. This 6-week program consists of three 1 hour group sessions per week along with individual counselling delivered online via a confidential, secure healthcare platform.

Topics Include:

  • Week 1 – welcome, defining trauma, biological aspect of addiction, drug education;
  • Week 2 – power and abuse, alcohol education, planning for sobriety;
  • Week 3 – process of trauma, self-care, sexual abuse, negative emotions;
  • Week 4 – impact of trauma, sex and substance abuse, understanding anger and communication;
  • Week 5 – healthy relationships, stress and emotional well-being, skills for reducing stress;
  • Week 6 – triggers, cravings and avoiding relapse, love and moving forward.

Virtual Transitional Care – Level 1 and Level 2

Virtual Treatment graduates will have access 6 weeks on ongoing support of Virtual Transitional Care. The focus of level 1 is to continue building relapse prevention skills while addressing additional issues that impact women in early recovery.

Topics Include:

  • Self-Help, physical wellness, problem solving, addiction and loss, grief: responding to loss, advanced relapse prevention.

Completing Level 1 Transitional Care allows clients to progress to the second level of ongoing support. The focus of Level 2 is to address family matters as well as understanding the importance of building a spiritual practice.

Topics Include:

  • Attitudes and beliefs, human needs and social relationships, family matters, you and your parents, spirituality and prayer, growing spiritually and meditation.

Virtual Pre-Treatment Webinars 

The weekly pre-treatment webinars focus on increasing client readiness for those waiting to enter the Community Day Treatment Program or the In-Patient Residential Program.

  • Relationships in treatment;
  • Tough topics;
  • The Sophrosyne experience;
