Gladys Chapman is one of the most influential and impactful women involved with the House of Sophrosyne. Gladys became sober June 10, 1977, and has been volunteering at the House since 1978; a mere six months after our doors opened. Gladys still attends as many House of Sophrosyne fundraisers and functions as possible, runs groups at the House as well as recovery meetings in addition to all of the other volunteering that she does in the community. She is not only our top ticket seller, but our top ticket purchaser. Despite how much she continues to give back, she is insistent that her contributions have helped her more than she has helped others. Her everyday attitude of generosity is the true definition of giving back. Gladys is the epitome of a role model to everyone she has met along her journey, and these contributions have led to recognition by way of this Award.
This award will recognize a House of Sophrosyne alumna who has successfully completed the residential treatment at the House of Sophrosyne. This award is intended to recognize someone who has demonstrated a commitment to her recovery and ongoing sobriety.
Note: The House of Sophrosyne reserves the right to alter, amend and/or discontinue this Award at any time at it its sole discretion.
